Mercedes-Benz is Preparing a New Extreme AMG GT!!
The sport workshop Mercedes-Benz is preparing an extreme version of the Super car AMG GT, which will be a big competitor with the Porsche 911 GT3. This is information said by the head of AMG, Tobias Moers, for a British magazine Autocar.
The car will be a variant of the racing car based on the AMG GT, and will debut in 2016, replacing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 Championship FIA GT3. According to Moers until then the engineers have time to improve all the features of the body, to make it more competitive.
There was no intention to create a dragster, whose only value will be the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds. We need to increase the power, to reduce weight and to improve the aerodynamics and suspension. “Our main goal is to get optimal ratio between power and weight, excellent handling and speed,” explains the head of AMG.
The new extreme Mercedes is expected to weight least than 80-100 pounds compared to the current version. This will be achieved by using composite materials, but the 4.0-liter V8 will be more powerful from 510 to 550hp. This supercar will have a wider track of the front and rear wheels, and a more aggressive aerodynamic package. The acceleration to hundred kilometers will be shortened for two tenths, and the maximum speed will remains limited to 310 km / h.
In comparison with Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, Porsche 911 GT3 has a 3.8 liter six-cylinder boxer with 475 hp which accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.5seconds, and has a top speed of 315 km/h
